Tips and Advice to Avoid Frustration
(Since there is no wiki and it can be frustrating, we should have a tips and advice section here. Please add tips.)

+Bare in mind, it is a strategy / economics/ explorer game. Write down your load out (number of ice screws, food etc. to remember and adjust it. You cannot save it currently. Check all the numbers.)

+Make a screenshot of the map, since there is no in-game map. Pause the game and got to the screenshot for directions when you are not sure.

+Pack your bagpack balanced. Crossing ladders and climbing will be easier/ less dangerous.

+Walking ladders can be done very slowly – not need to run.

+Placing ladders can be tricky. Do it back and forth, left and right, adjust the angle. You can jump up from ladders at the end.

+Scout especially the lower sections and paths before a serious attempt to the summit. (There are easier paths and approaches and requiring less ice screws and hooks. Look for alternative camping spots too.)

+Check and fill your stats before ice/rock climbing and ice field corssing, because you cannot do it in between.

+While sliding back during ice climbing quickly press Q not long/constantly.

+Do not forget to use your oxygen bottle higher up (double click on it and use T for the mask).

+Place important gear in hot keys slots, for you cannot access it under dangerous conditions (rope, ice screws, hooks, snow stick/sounding rod).

+When you plan/are forced to climb through the night, have extra batteries.

+Drop gear that you do not need anymore (check your map/screenshot for that).

+When you cannot restore stamina and mental condition while sleeping, it is because your sleeping bag is not warm enough. Get a better one. You cannot really compensate that with food (before you are super rich).

+To get better equipment, re-climb mountains to get fame and hence better sponsors to buy more stuff. Re-climb mountains faster and without oxygen and on different routes.

+It is normal to fail and encounter things that are “surprising”/frustrating (more bug-like*) – but that is/was the nature of high altitude mountaineering.

Climb well!

Berg Heil! (Salute to the mountain!)

*Collapsed snow layers over crevice do not re-spawn after you triggered it and died, resulting in completely blocking the way in one case. I was a single hook/ice screw short directly under the summit of Everest...
