About the book...?
I got the book and started reading it, but I stopped reading after ca. 20 pages because I was kind of bored.

Did anyone else get the book and read it to the end and liked it? Will it get better later in the book?

I played the game - don't know - two or three times until the end.
I am not sure if the book is written in a boring style, if I just knew too much of the book's story from the game (they are NOT the same!) or if I am just without taste because of the many cultivation-mary-sue books (translated from Korean and Chinese to English) I read in the last months.

So, if you read the book, did you like it a bit, a lot, very much, totally or not at all?

Btw, the Kindle (e-book) edition is less than 6 Euros; Calibre -> epub

Liked the book. The story was more in depth than the game and introduces new characters and events. (also the ending is different) It's been a while since I read it but, I think having played the game before reading the book helped me get immersed in the book a lot.
I personally liked the book, because at the time I had been watching a Let's-Play of the game on YouTube, but the player didn't play the game all the way through. I also hadn't played the actual game at that point, so the LP kind of left me hanging where the game's plot had me hooked. This was around 2011-2012, so when I found out that there was a book adaptation of it, I immediately picked up a copy to try and catch up where I Ieft off.

To be fair I initially thought the style of the prose was a little stiff, although I eventually settled down to it. I really enjoyed being able to sympathize with another side to Phoenix in depth in the book version, where in the game version she carried herself a lot more confidently during the investigation.

All-in-all I enjoyed the expanded plot and character developments the book offers as a supplement to the game. I also thought the ending to the book version was a lot more satisfying than where the original game ended.
