there's are eggs in Mushroom grotto, buccaneer bay, Red Planet, and Fire and ice.

Do the eggs actually do anything? Is there any kind of reward for collecting them? I thought maybe after getting the fifth I'd see a bonus feature of some kind, but nothing so far.
