As the game slowly unlocks more stuff you can really see the scope of everything there is to do.
Traversal and combat are really fun as well.
The story is serviceable but nothing special but it does a good enough job to keep you going and flesh out the game world.
The real fun (for me at least) is just how the game world gates you off at first and then gradually more things become accessible. It very much reminds me of playing either an early Zelda game or a Darksiders game in that regard.
I'd say give it a shot. I wouldn't really understand why coop would add anyway unless it was to just play with a good friend. I could imagine playing with randoms would be hell.
The game so far feels very much balanced for a single player and nothing seems gated off as a result of that.
