I do get you, and you're right... but...
"Let's mark these" as in "You gauntlet bearer, mark these on your map yourself" : )
I immediately understood this as soon as you see the markers disappear from the HUD and not being on the map.
Also the two prior sentences do help to understand "Human tend to forget, you should mark these" and "You don't want to forget hidden treasures, you should mark them on your map".
Maybe there's a randomisation on the voice acting and you might not have heard those, but it seems far from misleading after discovering a couple of totems.
Of course... for me, not everyone thinks like me : )
So, the actual phrase is, "Let US mark these on your map". As in US. As in TWO of us. Both people. Like I said, it's misleading at best.
You can at least use the chest perk for chests that already dug out, which is needed for 1 area where there is no beakon nearby telling about chests in that area.
But sadly the chest perk does not work on chests that have to be raised to the ground.
With the chest perk the sense vision is also pretty much useless, or the sounds cue from the perk, only thing is useful that on the compass a chest icon appears and you just go silly jumping low and high to find the chest in some corner.
(dunno about the vibration, have to buy a new controller, my oldest and newest ps4 controller have broken connections, so some of the buttons don't work sometimes, and I can't interchange between them the parts, including the one I'm using, so I'm using a controller where the vibration is mostly borked. Like all are ps4 controllers, but the last two I can swap the batteries and the L1, R1, L2, R2 buttons, but not the rubber without making cuts in 'em, only the other buttons and rubber and sticks are interchangeable with all versions it seems)
For one of the sentences it is, the other ones I wrote (which are direct quote from the game) are not that misleading. If you could have doubted the actual intention of the developers at first, after two or three totems you most certainly have heard more than this specific sentence... also, Nyaal tells a sentence everytime you come close / interact with a totem.
Since I had the same doubt initially, I interacted several times with the first totem and understood pretty fast the intention behind the system.
If I do agree that there is a sentence which is quite misleading, you have to be really really not interacting with the game OR trying to not understand what the character/game is trying to tell you after a couple of interaction.
This is a discussion that we can have about some aspects of the game which could be improved and saying "ho yeah there is a sentence or two in the game that are a bit misleading". But since there are at least 50% of the people here on the thread who perfectly understood the goal of the totems, let's not make that a big deal and accept that we can be wrong sometimes : )
You're right about this sentence, for the rest of what the game tells you after a couple of hours, it's a bit far stretched to say it's not clear enough.
Nyaal (spelling?) doesn't say he/you would (automaticaly) mark the locations
he says something akin to: you should merk the locations, i know how easy (hu)man forget.
now my issue, or let's say slight annoyance is the fact that Nyaal's "ghost vision" (don't remember what it's specificaly called), the thing with a down press (pad) turning the screen grey, giving you hints of close chests (perk) or showing quest locations, only stays active for a very short time.
when running around to find quite hidden chests, turning this "vision"-mode on again every couple of seconds is quite annyoin tbh.
frankly i'd prefer a toggle: you press it stays on until you press the button again
