Question about performance and frame rate
Hey team Atlas Fallen,

First of all - thank you for making a fantastic game! I'm absolutely loving it so far!!

Just wondering if anyone might know how to get the game to run smoothly at frame rates above 60fps? I can hit over 100fps quite easily, even going above 120, but no matter what RTSS reports my frame rate as, it feels as if it's 60fps.

Furthermore, FSR doesn't seem to be working, and if I lower the settings or resolution I don't actually get any increase in frame rate, I just get lower GPU usage and power draw. I've tried changing all sorts of settings related to fullscreen, windowed, gsync, vsync - everything I can think.

Any help or insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

FYI I'm running it on an i5-12600K, 32GB DDR4, RTX 4080 @ 3440x1440. Game version is latest as at 20th Nov 2023 (Update 2 from 17th Nov).

What is your gpu usage? I'm running a 12900K 4090 and my gpu usage rarely goes over 65% maybe 70% I play at 4K native max settings and avg 110-115fps . Have you checked if something is up with your display settings maybe in the monitor itself or Nvidia control panel might be work poking around.

GPU usage is not very high. I have RX 6700XT 12 GB RED DEVIL and RYZEN 7 1700 and i un it maxed 1440p 60 fps

Yeah I'm getting similar performance to you, however it does not feel like 115fps. I play other games at 115fps and it feels smooth. This game feels like it's 60fps even though I'm getting over 100fps

Same here. Is there any fix?

typical sync issue, mostly related to the way the engine is handling cpu work, and hence microstutter as it is often called. Various fixes are around such as registry tweaks, performance modes, etc, though it will vary from game to game as to what actually works.

Game is bugged with Intel E-Cores. Deactivating E-Cores in Bios gives big fps boost

That's not working for me, it feels like 60FPS regardless of my settings. I disabled them in Process Lasso for the EXE but it did nothing.

Hope the developers will fix it. I want to give this game a chance, but I can't while it's performing like this.

same here. 120fps but feels like 40fps

I was having the hardest time getting this game to run smoothly at medium quality, but I switched to DX11 and raised all my graphics to max and capped it at 60, now the game runs like a dream.
I only play at 1080p though, I’m not one for max quality, I prefer a smoother consistent gaming experience.

this game seams awesome but it would be great if you could optimize it to run smoothly on a Z1 extreme (rog ally / legion go)
on rog ally, I can run AC odyssey near ultra at 35 /45 fps but Atlas fallen have hiccups even in medium settings :/

Just found a fix for this..or a workaround

Not sure it had anything to do with this, but i launched the game with AtlasFallen (VK).exe

limiting the framerate in game to 60fps
untick fullscreen, to what i assume is borderless
vsync off

using Lossless Scaling and framegeneration, available on steam or on the high seas elsewhere,

scale the game from 60 to 120fps frame generated, it will FINALLY feel how it is meant to...actually 120fps, silky smooth not 30fps @ 60 locked
