ok so in the game steam folder atlas fallen/media-next there are a bunch of json files in which the word smoothing = true is set under mouse. i changed them all to false but still no go. sharing in case someone with more expertise can expand on this, since there r other variables im unsure of within those json files.

more updates: the last 4 files to be touched upon loading game start with combo_
i changed smoothing value to 0.0 from 0.5 and i THINK.. its either gone or much less. if anyone can confirm all the better.. in any case its perfectly playable like so (not that it wasnt before... but felt a little weird)

I've tried to make these changes but it seems that nothing changed.
I also think that there is some serious mouse acceleration going on here. Maybe that's what ♥♥♥♥♥ with my brain because I can do miniscule movements but as soon as I flick my mouse slightly, the camera spins 2-3x on its own axis... I've set up the mouse sensitivity and as long as I don't do fast mouse movements I am good but man these mouse controls are absolute garbage.

I got something working for me, its still not ideal, but i reduced the overall sensitivity in the C:\Users\"user"\OneDrive\Dokumente\My Games\Atlas Fallen\settings.json even further to 0.05 for
"game_camera_sensitivity_x": 0.050,
"game_camera_sensitivity_y": 0.050,

still would be very grateful to turn that ♥♥♥♥♥ smoothing off. :D

I'm honestly baffled by the insistence of game's defaulting to having any kind of mouse smoothing/acceleration on by default. Does anyone who actually uses mouse & keyboard enjoy these options on by default?

If I recall correctly, Surge 2 which was also made by Deck 13 at least had a config tweak that disabled mouse smoothing.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Atlas Fallen when it was released and I'm considering checking out the new update, but it really grinds my gears that the mouse smoothing/mouse acceleration issue hasn't been resolved.

surge 2 i used mouse+kb cause it let you use more active skills with keybinds, this game works fine with controller, no manual aiming needed

That's fine if you prefer playing Atlas Fallen with a controller, but I just don't understand what compels people to tell those who prefer mouse & keyboard the equivalent of, "I don't care about what issues you may have with a mouse & keyboard, just use a controller."

Like, why? What is it that you hope to accomplish by adding less than nothing to the discussion? Are you under the impression that mouse & keyboard players are unaware of the existence of controllers and that you're shedding light on the topic of computer peripherals?

I 100 percented the game when it initially released with mouse & keyboard on the hardest difficulty setting. I still would prefer it if the abomination that is mouse smoothing/mouse acceleration could at least be turned off.

It just baffles me that when it comes to mouse support, raw input isn't the standard.

you added l;ess than nothing by being an agressive ass, i was just sharing an opinion that controller is a valid option especially if mouse smoothing is causing you massive issues

Perhaps you just didn't enjoy the reflection of the mirror. :Shrugs: Be careful and check under your bed, Sweet Baby Inc and the Woke™ boogeyman might be hiding there.

At the end of the day, it's not a mystery that controllers are an option. Not everyone wants to use a controller and it's beyond tone deaf to tell PC players to suck up any issues they may have with a mouse & keyboard and just "use a controller".

We know controllers exist and we'd rather not use them. I own a controller, doesn't mean I want to use it all the time as I prefer to use mouse & keyboard. There's plenty of games that at least have the option to disable mouse smoothing/mouse acceleration, including their previous game (The Surge 2).

It would be nice to have the option to be disabled, especially given prior games have this implemented.

Did the latest patch fix this?
JackBaldy Sep 30, 2024 @ 11:52pm
Checking in again, was this ever changed?

There was a new patch again, did anyone test to see if there's any changes regarding this issue?
