I don't understand how to play this

To be clear, I've heard great things about this game, and I'm sure it's wonderful... but wtf how do I play this?
It feels like it's supposed to be a rhythm game. I tend to do alright with those, and I LOVE games that go to the music. Unfortunately, this game makes me move completely off the music, so I'm not sure what to even expect. I already don't like the way it works. I can jump or move, but the attacks are too wide to move fast enough, and the jump always has to be a second off beat and feels really unreliable for most sequences. This is so disappointing. I can't play it to the beat, isn't that the whole point of a game like this? it feels completely wrong.

It's not a rhythm game so you just dodge stuffs with your eyes. The first half where you can't fight back is actually very boring to me. On the 2nd half you unlock the ability to hit them back and that's where the fun begins.

You don't have to force yourself to do higher difficulty. Every hitless achievement can be done on any difficulty.

If it new rhythm game you want, seek out Unbeatable [white lable] instead.
