I just asked Chris about the Eternity Edition coming to PC. It will not.

Hi!

Blitworks is the publisher of xbox and playstation and creator of the new battles.

We are as of right working on Everhood 2!

If it wasnt for Blitworks then xbox or playstation versions wouldnt exist!

So basically, Blitworks is the one that pushed this to consoles. I've looked at some other comments and apparently Blitworks had this to say:

(credit to sleepy toad for the info here)

"@Blitworks
The development of the port and the bonus levels has been done by BlitWorks and not by the original developers, Foreign Gnomes. We are the publishers only of the PS and Xbox versions, so it is those that we have competence in.

We decided to create this extra content for two reasons: the first one was because the PlayStation and Xbox versions lack an aspect that the PC version did have, that were the Custom Battles, in which you can play more than 150 levels and create your own. To make up for that, we decided to add these new 16 levels to Everhood: Eternity Edition.

And the second one, after a year and a half since the game’s original release, we wanted to give motivation to players to try this version and also bring this game that we love so much to the ones who may not have tried it, so that it would be a good and enriched experience."

"@Blitwork
Hi! We are indie console publishers, we are not the same ones that published the game on PC or Switch. The creation of the extra levels has been done by us and not by the developers in this case, so we can only influence the issues that affect our edition of the game. The options were either to publish the game the same as on PC, or to make some new content for the consoles, and we went with the second option as we wanted to offer the best version possible so more people get to play this gem "

I'm also disappointed that the content is not coming to PC, but it sounds like the devs were not involved in that decision nor the content associated with it.

So putting this all together, the reason that the XBOX and PS version have the Eternity Editon is because they do not have mod support to create levels. Blitwork felt that that feature missin felt lacking, so they decided to add some fun levels for those gamers that can't enjoy all the whacky things we PC gamers can. Honestly, I'm glad to hear Chris say that they are focused directly on Everhood 2. If the developers were making EE for PC, it would take away time and other things from the sequel.

I've seen a few comments saying that they feel betrayed not getting this EE content, but honestly, Foreign Gnome have nothing to do with it. They made the PC edition and that's it. If it weren't for Blitwork, PS gamers and Xbox gamers wouldn't have ever got to experience this game. Since Blitwork isn't Foreign Gnome, this doesn't feel like a betrayal at all. They're just a publisher for the consoles and they made the game work on said consoles. After getting all this information, it all makes a lot of sense, but I also understand the feeling of being bummed not getting it.

I remember having to buy Hat in Time twice because I found out that SEAL the DEAL wasn't coming to PS any time soon. The deal at the time (Buy Hat in Time and get the DLC free) was apparently only for PC release, not Console.... Imagine my shock when I found this out after purchases it on PS.... Also, worry not PC gamers, you still have PC exclusives such as Spark the Electric Jester 3.

I guess we'll have to rely on modders then...

As someone who just started playing this game 2 days ago and really is enjoying the game so far, I feel like the reason for not getting the new content on PC is really strange. 'PC gamers got exclusive custom content due to the limitations of other platforms, so we arbitrarily won't add the new content to the PC version because every version needs to lack something' ?
I get the different developers thing, but in the long run, I'd like to have this as paid dlc to compensate the additional effort and then you can sell game + dlc as eternity bundle.

Edit: I think I didn't word this very well. I do understand the reason and I get how the publishers just wanted to add to the experience. Having exclusive content on different platforms if the platform could handle said content is always a bad thing though and will always lead to some players being frustrated about being locked off of some content of a game they enjoy. Honestly I'd prefer if the original devs would have collaborated to release the new content on PC alongside consoles even if that means to delay the release of the second game for a few months. And I say this while still looking forward to the second game.

Not releasing the content on PC just seems lame and ignorant to the PC Everhood fan base. I would even accept getting the levels at a later date, kind of like games that have been releasing on the Epic Games store a year before the Steam store, but to say that we are never getting these extra levels is just rash and neglectful.

Hell, even my buddy who just bought the Switch version 2 weeks ago isn't getting this content, so both the PC and Switch fan bases are getting screwed over. Super lame decision, hope it gets changed in the future. :heyred:
