How do I swap / switch out characters in battle with Formation?

I'm playing the Steam version of the game, so how do I change characters during battle? When it is the turn of a character who is linked to another I have literally gone through every single key on my keyboard and none of them have worked to bring up anything. At this point I'm honestly starting to regret getting the Steam version of this game and wish I had gotten the PS4 version instead. Any help on this would much appreciated. Thanks!

I didn't play with keyboard but I think it's 'E'? I believe it will be better if you can remap buttons, but you can check the buttons with 'Start' or 'P' on keyboard.

You do need to press it 2x. So maybe you did hit it but didn't notice because a second press is needed to confirm the swap.

Also consoles are lame. 20 years from now are you more likely to still have access to a PS4 game you downloaded or a PC one?
