good to know!
In case you were seriously asking, Xenogears is a JRPG from the era of SquareSoft (before merging with Enix to become the current Square Enix) where they just could not seem to put out a bad game; even their "clunkers" had charm and were worth playing.
Xenogears became something of a fan-favorite for its weaving together introductory-level philosophic and religious elements, technology (including, notably, mechs), and an engaging story spanning thousands of years (but without the time-travel gameplay of Chrono Trigger).
Dev literally states he draws influence directly from this game and was trying to take the coolest parts he remembers and make them *better*.
"Yes. As I said, I grew up in the golden era. I fell in love with games such as Xenogears, Suikoden 2, Breath of Fire, Terranigma, [and] the Chrono series. And many more. And they all influenced Chained Echoes. Not to forget Final Fantasy VI. But I guess especially Xenogears had a huge impact on the game. It doesn’t stop there, and I still play games these days, so there are obviously things inspired by more modern games, from Xenoblade Chronicles to Elden Ring. That may sound weird but on the other side, everything influences us and I can’t really say if there was any game which didn’t influence me."

You get an F in semantics.
But if this is the direction you really want this conversation to go, I'm not going to oblige you further. I wasn't attempting to argue semantics, only that too often people take "influenced by" as an invitation to make direct comparisons, which I don't feel is really fair to the new work.
The intro was like Chrono Trigger, then the quest name was heavily nostalgic for Xenogears.
This game is far from an RPG Maker game. I mean there are some decent ones though I enjoyed, but this game has one of the most addictive battle systems.
