I got my achievement on a second play through and it seemed like there was still more to be found when it popped. I wondered then if it was a total amount from all games played that triggered it and not just in one game.
Maybe someone else has some thoughts to share?
It's interesting that you got it on a second playthrough early on, because I've done three playthroughs now and am 100% certain that I collected several herbs in the other two as well, so if it were cumulative it should definitely have popped by now. Especially since none of the other achievements seem to track across files/playthroughs, because on my second playthrough I didn't get the collection achievements until I found the very last one sequentially (I know in my first playthrough I had gotten the last ones in almost every case.)
So I'm a bit stumped; now this and Survival mode are the only achievements I have left. I guess I'll role play a survivalist and take extra care to scour every inch of the map for herbs on that final run and try to keep careful track of how many I've picked up and see how that goes.
I started a "Detective" easy playthrough and completely ignored all animals. The wild animals don't attack on easy, and the brume animals don't do any damage. There's only 2 places you have to kill the brume animals to progress the story, and both are in the Underground Laboratory level.
Anyhow since I was frustrated with the "Herbivore" achievement (and the inventory still has a bug and doesn't tell you how many herbs you have), I kept a list this time so I could track both the number of herbs I have and the locations they appear in. I don't think it matters, but this was from a "detective" (easy) level playthrough. I don't have a map, and the list is a bit random in order since it's how I found them, but this should help. I've managed to find 23 herbs in the game so far.

Very much appreciated! Now I can just play the game normally on Survivor to finish it out, which is generally how I like to do it with games that have difficulty-based achievements.
