Game is unplayable - need help SOLVED

Hi all - Just to preface, I did look at the Pinned Bug Reports thread. it wasn't very helpful.

I bought the game and the DLC. I then went to the kagura games website and downloaded the DLC installer (v.2.03.0). When running the installer, i set it to install into the summer memories folder in my steam folder. I don't think I have any issues with the installation because it said it did it successfully and when I start up the game, the title screen says "Summer Memories +" and also has an ero scene next to the menu. I am also certain the installation worked because i was able to do the lewd tutorial with the blond cousin.

However, when I get to day 2 (i think.. whenever you can finally go outside and explore), I go around town - and especially when I go to the school, an error pops up where it says "Loading Error - Failed to load img/parallaxes/School 1.png" and it shows a "retry button"

after hitting retry, any time i go into another section, more "Loading Error" notices come up.. and when I try talking to any of the family members, the game gets locked up and clicking LMB or RMB has no effect. I have to force quit the game.

Oh, also - when starting up the game, I also see a "Profile error occurred" message that says "Your profile can not be used because it is from a newer version of NW.js. - Some features may be unavailable. Please specify a different profile directory or use a newer version of NW.js." I did some googling on this one, and saw that if you open the "package.json" file in the game directory, and change (edited bc it doesn't show up) Name to NAME: YOUR_GAME_NAME ... that fixes that error pop-up, but does nothing for the error messages about .png failures. (i think this solution i did find on the Pinned Bug Reports thread)

I've uninstalled and resinstalled 3 different times and get this same result. From what I read on the Pinned Bug Reports thread, if you have the DLC, you don't need the "Summer-Memories-EN-Patch-v3" file - so I didn't bother with that. I also tried verifying the game's file integrity.. but doing that just takes out the H-content (the title still says Summer Memories +, but no ero-scene next to the menu). What am I doing wrong or missing?
