How to play with my friends?

I think I saw this somewhere in a thread... while in-game, shift-tab and open the message panel with your friend, there should be an invite to game button there. If there isn't that option then I have no idea what other way could possibly work. Make sure your multiplayer in-game setting is set on 'invite only', not everyone. Maybe, it should work then. Let me know if this works.

Exactly this, additionally - in the game's world you can find a cable sticking out (e.g. very close to the spawn on pirate island) activate it to be able to invite your friends

Hi, I want to invite my friend or join my friend game,but there is no reaction after press invite friend by the Steam message panel, and I can not use cable in the game to join my friend world, it always join other random player world.

how to solve it? many friends meet the same problem with me. I am from China, I really like this game so I want to play with my friends as soon as possible, if you are the developer, could you please give me some advice?
