Excellent resource recommendation from Lothmore!

The videos by Vortac Vids aided me greatly when I was first getting started with the game. He has posted multiple videos (20 at the time of this writing) covering everything from the getting started guide (referenced by Lothmore above) to basic programming, automation, fuel efficiency, buddy bots, defenses and more.

As Lothmore recommended, if you find yourself in need of programming help, gaming tips and tricks, or if you just want to watch a great video series, give Vortac Vids a looking over.

I tried to follow his video on beginning tips where he talked about looting EVERYTHING, however, when I tried to get furniture, miners, storage bin, planter, and other items nothing could be looted. The only thing I could get were gas cans, batteries, plants, things in the storage bin and other various small items. Is there a special keyboard key I am not pressing in order to take those bigger items. I tried using "E" and it didn't work. I tried hitting things and it didn't work. Either I am not using the correct key or those particular items he mentioned can no longer be looted. It makes it very difficult. Plus, what's up with those xxxx robots? They are so aggressive! I managed to make a bat but it doesn't seem to work against them. I could hit and damage the little ones...they run away and bring their big buddies. I don't dare light a campfire...three or four big robots attack me and I am dead. I did find a mine and got ore. I manually had to put it into the furnace to make ingots but always had to watch for the robots. I have started new games 5 or 6 times because the robots would kill me. I don't want to spend all my time running from robots. I can't even build or explore. Too many robots! Why are they so aggressive in the beginning of the game. I don't mind survival games but geez...give me some time to collect stuff before ganging up on me and killing me. I can't even defend myself properly. When I start the game, the only option is "survival". Would like to see a "building or creative" option. Can't the developers tone down robots aggressiveness at least in the beginning of the game. I can't touch anything without alerting them.

Hold down the right mouse button to pick up placed objects such as furniture, doors, storage bins, and miners.

The robots are relatively slow and easy to outrun in a pinch. You can always stand on a two crates and swing the bat until they are all dead but a laser sword defense works well for me.

1 Laser trip wire and 3+ lasers. Add two Wait statements (right click in the programming window to access more commands) with 1 and 2 second delays so they trigger in sequence. This setup just kills them in an easy farm. I typically add a button to set off the sequence manually if for some reason the trip wire fails to activate (mostly due to piled up robot bodies).
