Left my review and walking away. Frustrated and defeated.
It's got a market system? Every sector has one space station with a market inside it.
ty for the emp heads up, I'll try that
The graphics are good, and it looks like there are some neat ships, etc. Wish this was more like FTL. It is lacking some charm but there is potential here.
You are.. and that was what finally killed it for me. You can unlock tons of new weapons but you'll never see them unless you wipe and start the run all over. It's an awful, truly punishing progression system that makes NO SENSE. Every other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ roguelike lets you unlock and use new weapons as you play >_>
When flying around after a while, every single node will start to give 3 generic fights in a row.
When flying around an insanely longer time, no node will give anything at all anymore. No fights, no missions, no nothing.
Every game you will end up with the exact same weapons, as they are just SO MUCH better than any other option. Blaster Turret Mk III and/or Rapid Fire EMP Mk III.
Drones are all 1 energy and feel generic AF. Why 8 system levels for it? And no on-ship drones? And ignoring that fact, there still are very few drone types.
Sometimes a sector will not have a station at all. The ♥♥♥♥ you want people to do? Go back to bounty 8 sector and from there jump 6 more times to get to station, go back, and by the time you are back where you were you'll be 40(!) fights further, either half destroyed again, or rich AF and wanting to go to a station again.
That one "special" crew member is supposed to give energy, while it gives levels to the room. Many more such examples of broken descriptions or uncertainty on whether it should be one way, or another, due to some typo or other nonsensical thing.
Super excited for the game. Now just soured. I was fully prepared to face bugs and have to deal with tedious design decisions and frustrating gameplay portions. And I have faced all that. Especially bugs. So. Many. Bugs. Something I am actually fine with, bugs can be fixed. But design decisions and entire gameplay mechanics are there to stay. And currently there are so many small deviations in that, compared to the game this is based on, that it's just frustrating to deal with those small differences, which are mostly only there because of a lack of thinking things through. For example, weapons will take any opportunity to not go back to their order, if for example your ship or the enemy ship uses cloak. Drones love to stop doing anything after a cloak. Drones will need to be fed another drone when entering a new fight in the same location. In fact, they even need a new one when fighting 2 enemies at the same time. Destroying one does not make the drones fight the other. (Best just forget about drones. Everything that made drones interesting, special and a tradeoff in FTL, is gone here. A drone costs MINIMUM resources, it's super easy to stack up on them. In FTL it was way more impactful on your resources and as such required some real thought about the tradeoffs.)
I just figured I could keep going like this for quite a while.. But to what end? 60/100 says enough. It's too bad, we need more games like FTL. But of course, with a great name, comes a great burden. When attempting to so blatantly ripping off one of the most popular titles of the past, you better make sure you rip off all that made it great. Not just small portions of it.
Trigon still has potential, but needs A LOT of work. Why this wasn't entered as Early Access is also beyond me, the game could have THRIVED for years in Early Access.
