Confirmed: AVX is required to play NBA 2K21
The 2K Knowledge Base article was updated in the last 24 hours to include the AVX instruction set as a requirement for your processor.

NOTE: In order to play NBA 2K21 on PC, you need a processor capable of supporting SSE 4.2 and AVX.
https://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/360051712114--PC-NBA-2K21-System-Requirements
  • If the game doesn't boot up at all (or closes after a few seconds of boot), that is a symptom of a lack of SSE 4.2.
  • If you are not able to actually load into a game of basketball, that is a symptom of a lack of AVX.
There are websites and System Information software where you can check whether your processor has SSE and AVX. Please check those if you are experiencing these issues to help you diagnose the issue.

I know my processor cant support avx but can anyone have a solution for this problem?
Zeokage May 8, 2021 @ 4:56pm
No, you will not be able to play any games of basketball without AVX. It's part of the minimum requirements.

Sad. My Intel i7 980x has no AVX. Thus, reason for crashing and game not loading. Money wasted.

As I said in your thread...

Unfortunately, that processor does not run AVX and is therefore incompatible with the game.
You will have to change processor to play the game.

It won't until you are using a processor that meets the minimum requirements and runs AVX.

If the game has been working previously, you're in the wrong thread. Are the symptoms similar to this thread?

I had the same issue with Cyberpunk 2077,but then someone managed to create a patch. A week later, the devs also managed to remove the necessity of AVX instructions,so why can't they do the same thing for NBA?
