I was hoping it was like Madden NFL requirements because Madden NFL 19 didn't work with my Core 2 Quad and Madden NFL 20 worked which was good.

If you do try to upgrade to the minimum. Keep in mind the Sandy Bridge cpu's would have used a different socket and RAM, which means you'd need a new CPU, Motherboard and RAM at a minimum. At that point unless you can find them dirt cheap, I'm not sure I'd recommend upgrading to 8 year old hardware.
The lowest end current generation hardware isn't that expensive and would run circles around either your Core 2 Quad or the i3 2100.
