Badges: More Gold vs Less HOF?

I have a question about badges. I created a Slasher and I can earn a total of 16 shooting and 16 playmaking badges. I'm trying to determine a good strategy before I start earning them.

(1) Would it be better to have 4 HOF badges (16 earned) is it better to have 5 Gold badges and 1 Bronze? I just don't know whether the HOF badges give THAT much of an extra boost rather than having more categories covered with Gold badges.

(2) Any suggestions on which badges to choose?
