Same problem here. It used to work just fine, but some day it just stopped opening. I mean, it opens the game, I'm even able to hear the game's soundtrack but i'm not able to see anything. I keep seeing my desktop image. Fix this, please.

Thats because mac doesnt have something vital for playing pc games, and i little thing made by microsoft for windows called "DirectX" which makes games backwards compatible so upgrading to a new OS version the dev wont have to make a patch to make the game compatible with the new OS. It appears, or if i just dont know, that Mac doesmt have anything like this, so when you upgrade to a new mac os, the game cant run until its patched.

I had the same problem since yesterday. I played the game for 5-6 days and yesterday didn't open the game. The icon start, but not the game.
I don't know the real problem, but I restart Steam and opened other game ("World of Guns Disassenbly") for 1-2 minutes, then close the game and opened GTA and... woalaaa!!!! It started with not problem.
Repeat: I don't know what is the REAL problem, but it works.
I have a Mac mini with OSX 10.11.5, late 2013, i7, 16 ram.
Cheers!

I removed all files in /Users/ --- /Library/Application Support/Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas/
After that I closed the GTA process in mac activity monitor. After that it started :)

Suddenly having the same problem. I was playing it just fine, exited to launch a different game, quit that game, relaunched GTA, and voila: it opens, but I can't get to the game screen! I tried re-installing, rebooting etc, and no change.

Go to Steam library > Right click GTA San Andreas > Properties > Local Files > Right click GTA San Andreas > Show package contents > Contents > Resources > Transgaming > c_drive > Program files > Rockstar games > GTA San andreas > delete movies folder.
