WTH I can not believe how many ignorant wanna be Nazi police there are on this platform; it is disturbing. Mind your own business and get a life, dudes. Appalling bullying IMO!!
I am an artist and the last thing i want is people using my work without permission. IF YOU EVER create something unique in your life after infinite hours of hard effort and creativity then you will understand the importance of my question. Until then, take back your ugly labels and hang them somewhere else.
First of all, I have had creative worked copied and so have many creative persons. I remind myself: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" AND I can not control the world!
In addition, in this particular game, NO ONE copied anyone's work. It is SIMILAR work NOT "copied" work. AND even if it WERE copied line for line, mark by mark, there is NOTHING anyone could do unless said work is copyrighted, etc.
SO if you never want anyone imitating your work then you'll have to have it copyrighted/ watermarked, etc. OR you'll have to not share your art with the rest of civilization by keeping it locked in a drawer; otherwise, someone (if you're lucky and/or good enough) may be inspired by your art and use it as inspiration and copy it. It's a fact of life.
Just think of what a landscape designer must go through... not only can everyone copy their work, a storm can come and destroy it overnight. Again, that's life. You can either agonize over everything out of your control or get over it and accept it as sort of positive-(ish).
Because one way or another there is not much you can do about it and one way is a lot healthier than the other.
Question: have you ever copied somebody else's work and told them they should be flattered? Sure sounds like you're defending something you personally are okay with doing.
Never, ever. I am gifted with a very creative nature on many levels and mediums yet have never "copied" any work. Of course, I've been inspired by others, but never copied.... not even close. As a child I didn't even enjoy coloring books for the same reason. I would rather draw myself and color in whatever I drew. So again, yes, others have copied my work and it has happened to me many times in my lifetime (I'm not young) but I found (learned) that acceptance of the facts of life was far easier (even though it wasn't easy) on my overall well being and psyche than agonizing over things I couldn't control. In fact, I have a tendency to ruminate so it really bothered me and it was an exercise in self introspection among other things. (Pride, ego, etc) The bottom line is there is very little anyone can do about that sort of thing and if you don't learn to let it go, it can and probably will eventually limit your creativity do,so, you have to learn to let go and accept it. Ultimately (tho hard) turn it around to a positive.... as in the quote, above, about flattery.
Besides, think about it, there are SO many forms of art in the world that even subliminally, you may be "copying" someone else's work (though in the case of this game it is clearly more of an inspiration than "copying" IMO).... so even if you draw, say, as an example a flower (specifically a daisy), well, someone could claim you are copying someone elses' work... photo, painting, drawing, etc. of that same flower from nature. In this case it's more of an imaginative world, but it still applies. Also, if you notice, it was a very well thought out storyline. IMO the developer is very gifted.
Good luck with your skills, hope you fare well in all your endeavors.
"I am a close friend" "I can assure you"
Well then, assure us, with some evidence and proof, otherwise, you're not trusted! You have provided no evidence or proof to back up your statements, that's why I don't believe you.
