CD Key

Does anyone know why whenever I try to open GTA vice city, steam says I have to enter a CD key upon activation, and then the game just doesn't open? I have been unable to play the game for awhile now since the game won't open for me anymore. Very perplexing

I have the same problem, haven't played this game in months. It worked fine before, but now it doesn't start!

because when u get the game it shows a cd key then u paste it

You can right click the game in the Steam Library, then choose "View CD Key", either write it down or click on the copy to clipboard option. Launch the game and write the Key you have.

It doesn't need a CD key, none eof the GTA games do. Its and error of some sorts and I am also getting it. The game asks you to copy the CD Key to input when the game starts. But the game doesn't start.

For me it helped to reinstall the game, delete and download again, worked like a charm!

I'm having the same issue on Mac, really ticking me off.
UPDATE: I tried what FrankyDoodle said and after some panicky looking for the saves (because they had been moved to a new location) it worked like a charm. Would still recommend in backing up the files just in case befere deleting though.
