GTA Vice City on MAC

I am trying to play GTA Vice City on my MacBook Pro with a cheap Steel Series 3GC controller connected via USB and something weird just started happening. When I try to run around, the dude suddenly decided he doesn't want to turn left or right. I'm using the directional pad because I hate the joystick. I'm really not sure what to do. I use Joystick Mapper to get the controller to work at all and it has been working fine up until about a week ago. Any ideas, anyone?

If the joystick is bugged, it's best to use a keyboard. what Mac OS are you using? also, can you do me a favor, launch the game, go to options, then go to display settings, and see if there is an option for frame-limiter. thanks.
