Negative Traits, Crop Quality and Feeding
So I've been struggling with these three things and it's been tricky finding the answers. When monster hatch with negative traits, what do you do with them? Is there a way to sell them? Should you make sure they don't breed? Is there a way to improve the traits? Also struggling with making sure there's enough crop to feed them, and how to consistently get high quality crops. Sometimes the monsters go hungry and I think negative traits have developed from that? Then balancing all of that with the other aspects of the game like getting ingredients for cooking, making money from selling things you harvest from the monsters, general village life and exploring the dungeon. How are people managing this? Hope to get some helpful insights. Thanks!

Monsters
• Negative traits have a chance to appear when a monster is hatched, they can be bred out for their off-springs.
• Monsters can be sold (graduated early) by talking to Montalvo the stork man and choosing the dialogue option 'I think a monster is ready to join a society'.
• Same-specie breeding will increase the off-springs Magical Saturation which in turn increases the chance of Traits to upgrade in tier for the off-spring (50+ MS required). Note that a monster born with 100MS will turn out as feral and will automatically leave the farm.

Crops
• High quality crops can be obtained by:
◦ starting with 1-star crops bought from Jaero / obtained from the Dungeon etc.
◦ watering and fertilizing the crops with a corresponding fertilizer in the hopes of them coming out as higher tier.
◦ refining the higher tier crops in the mill into seeds and planting them.
◦ rinse and repeat.

Food
• Monsters can't get negative Traits from getting hungry but their loyalty will decrease double the amount from each day they're kept hungry (-,2 -4, -8 etc.)
• Birma sells bread in front of the Barracks which works as an easy food source. Otherwise it's good to plant crops which grow over in just 2 days.
• For easy source of profit, the Essence Market also via Montalvo can be exploited. The prices range between -5 to +5; buying at low and setting at high can get the player at 100k+ in a matter of weeks.

Thanks so much! Very helpful. I do periodically sell extra monster essence for out of season monsters for more money. Also shipping out their other harvested items from storage. How can you check on your monster's loyalty? I can't see it, but I know the chime for petting them is different for your own children, monsters who have been there longer and such. More hearts appear too. Is there an actual number/stat you can check on beyond that?

Yeah I have been buying bread and hand feeding them when the crops are growing. I'm in spring and the only 2 day crop I know is macrina I think it's called? So been planting that. I hear the dragons are good for tending the fields? I never let them go hungry for more than a day, but it gets tricky trying to explore the dungeons because time passes by so quickly you know? I got excited about the breeding and have quite a few. I feel like maybe I need to sell some off because my farm doesn't have enough capacity to support them maybe? I have full capacity in the barn, and one pasture which I think is 30 monsters. Then I have one upgraded field and one standard one.

I don't have access to the mill yet but can hopefully get it soon. Good to know you can breed negative traits out too. Can breeding with a different species with good traits breed out negative traits too? I also have one impotent one I can't harvest essence or breed (other than the fun scene). I heard there's a bug that means he'll still have offspring, but don't want to take the risk. Graduate him with Montalvo, or keep around to the work the farm?

• Petting is the only indicator for a monster's loyalty, grey/shattered hearts mean low/below a minimum loyalty whereas the golden hearts mean high/maxed out loyalty. Loyalty can be increased by:
◦ Breeding with the player
◦ Being Pet
◦ Being added to the party (dungeon)
◦ Being harvested
◦ Talking to them
As well as if:
◦ The monster has the Friendly trait, and they're petted.
◦ When eating the first time each day, (hand fed/combat fed/silo), higher quality food gives bigger boost.

• Dragons, Wolves and Chimeras all use universal fertilizer which makes them great fieldworkers.
• In the early game it's better to keep the monster count minimal. After having 2 more field spaces from the first farm expansion, one of them can be spared for regrowing crops which can be harvested between 2-3 days.

• Mill unlocks after clearing Tro's Lab on F6 and returning to Cloverton.
• Bloodline and species traits (if the off-spring is a same species as the parent) have a chance to be inherited and replace the negative traits for the off-spring.
• Although the negative traits can be bred out, sometimes it's better to let the monster go and try for another.
• The Impotent trait prevents a monster from producing children or essence. As of now, the trait is ineffective and the monsters can still produce children.
