How to Breed?

New player here, I went through the demo, and then bought the game, and I am having trouble figuring out the breeding interface. I cannot figure out how to select more than one monster, or my character, in the breeding interface. Is there a step by step guide to the breeding and harvesting interface. I don't need to know who to breed with whom. I just cannot figure out how to select the two partners for breeding.

I feel like an idiot, but it is so different from the demo interface, and I cannot seem to figure it out.

In the barn there is a small "T" shaped object near the door. That should bring up everyone on the farm including you. At the bottom there is "Breed" or "Harvest" select your choice. Breeding: Select one person and it should bring that person on the left side. Then Select person 2 and they should pop up on the right. Above them and in-between you should see a heart symbol that says "Breed". Click it. Animation should follow if it is you involved. If not you should see them around as well as get a notification.
Harvest: Just as Breeding for selection but only one person gets selected and on the right is what you're harvesting. At the top is "Harvest". Click it (sometimes you can do this more than once given equipment and the abilities). Once you've harvested what you can it auto-removes them.

You know what I forgot? You cannot breed or harvest anyone who is working. When I figured that out, I felt so very dumb.
