A Way Out does not start

Hi,

I can't launch the game. EA app icon shows up for a second and disappears. There is no task in Task Manager. Steps I tried, but to no avail:
- reinstalling the game
- reinstalling the EA app
- changing location of the game (game started, but the issue showed up again after restarting PC)
- starting the game directly from the folder
- starting the game from EA app
- turning off any external overlays
- turning off any non-essential app, including antivirus
- turning off EA app so it does not start with Windows

When starting the game from Steam, I was stuck on the "Preparing game" loading bar and then it disappeared and the game did not start at all. The solution for me was to enable the EAAntiCheatService and EABackgroundService services in the System configuration.

I think the problem was that I had Origin installed before and I didn't uninstall it, just disabled it from the startup. To open the System configuration on Windows (10 for me, but I think it's the same for 11), click start, type 'msconfig' and open. On the 'Services' tab look for the above mentioned services, enable them and restart the computer.

And yes, checking the anti-virus is also always a good idea!

reinstalling the EA app fixed it, just install from their direct website

someone can help me? when i open a way out steam it starts validating the game files, then once finished the game doesn't open and continues like this in a loop, any solutions? i tried everything

I got the game today and my friend had a similar problem. Her game would just run for a minute and then crash without showing any message. It seems like its some bug in old Unreal Engine related to SHA check in open SSL (some kind of witchcraft, im not sure if thats the case).
However i managed to find a fix, i dont know if it will work four you but it worked for us.

1-Open start menu and search for 'Edit the system environment variables'. You can also navigate to this by going in Control Panel->System and security->Advance system settings
or in Windows 10 open settings->system->about->advance system settings (under related settings tab on the right)

2-After you open the 'Edit the system environment variables' you will see two sections namely 'user variable' and 'system variables'. Click on 'new' in the 'system variable' section.

3-Variable Name: 'OPENSSL_ia32cap' Variable Value: '~0x20000000' (enter only the part inside the quote marks.)

4-Now close the EA app and restart it. Launch the game and enjoy.

I hope this works for you too. If it doesnt just remove what you just added.

if you go to C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\AWayOut\Haze1\Binaries\Win64 and try to open the game from there (AWayOut.exe) and it gives a "MSVCR120.dll file missing" error, then follow the links in the reddit thread to download microsoft visual C++ 2013 redistributable files,, that should fix it
