Cannot hear dialogue
I can hear the music and sound effects. I can hear the guy telling me to get off the bus. I cannot hear the voice of my character or my friend's character. I cannot hear the voices of NPCs when I try to talk to them.

Luckily we have not gone over the two hour mark. We still have a chance to get refunds.

It was a nightmare getting this game to run and being able to connect with my friend. And now this!!!! JFC!!!!

Anyone have a solution to this problem?

We have just started playing this. I have voice but my girlfriend doesn't, basically same issue as the OP. Anyone found a fix for this?

I found that my headset wasn't good enough. Can't remember off the top of my head, but I think it had to do with the game using "surround sound 7.1," but my headset only supported "surround sound 2.0" or something like that. The numbers I used here are most likely wrong. I was having the same problem with other games; not just this one.

With my old headset, I noticed that whenever I was using my microphone (discord call, streaming on Twitch, etc.) the sound quality I was hearing was absolute garbage. I read online the same problem with my headset was responsible for this. Another possibility I read was just that the headset was bluetooth and apparently windows won't produce good sound on your headset if: a) You are using bluetooth AND b) You are using your microphone.

I was using a Skullcandy Hesh 3 bluetooth headset. Now I am using a Corsair Void Elite headset that uses a dedicated usb dongle. Each of these headsets retail for roughly $100 USD.

Perhaps you just need to get a new headset. I hope this helps.

Thanks for posting, we'll look into that as it is a bluetooth headset.

Sure! I'd be interested in learning your outcome, so I may better understand the problem.

I have the same thing, just started this game with my gf on local co-op. Every sound effect is fine except for voice lines, they sound like it's in the far distance. Tried checking settings of my headset and speakers but nothing solved it. Guess we'll just play this game with subtitles...

Hello. I recently just encountered this bug, me and my partner were unable to hear the sounds correctly and the voices were either only half working, or just completely dysfunctional.

In order to fix this, I right clicked my sound settings (speaker in the bottom right icons) on Windows, then viewed the spatial sounds. I enabled Windows Sonic for Headphones, changed my in game settings to Headphones, and magically the voices returned and played thru the speakers.

Hope this helps whoever stumbles across this thread.
Just bought this game for my friend and I. She was having this exact problem. She even said maybe it's was her headphones. I was like nah. Didn't even occur to me. Then I found this. Of course it's the surround sound lol. I was reading it to her as I'm solving the problem. I started reading your solution as I was asking her what she uses. She uses the exact Skullcandy headset, it was too funny.

I use the Steelseries Arctis 1 Wireless. They don't have USB-C charging, it's sadly micro USB, gross. Other than that, they are really good and work with this game.
