Can I buy two copies to play this?

I realise only one copy is needed for two players but my research tells me the Remote Play Together feature actually streams the game from my friends computer, but he has a crap connection. Is this how it works when using a single copy?

And secondly, if I buy a copy for myself can I use that to become the second player? I ask because I assume this setup will need a lot less bandwidth.

On Origin launcher there is a free version your friend can download to play with you.

When you launch the game, invite your friend on origin and it will allow him to use 'friend pass' for a free edition of the game. :) Go for it! Just finished it myself. The feels!
