I hope for a Legendary Edition for Dragon Age.
Similar to how Bioware compiled the Mass Effect series into one neat “package” as the "Legendary Edition". Would love to play them again as one, as I had enjoyed my time with the series all those years ago.

While I agree with your general idea, I very much doubt it would be marketed or packaged the same way. ME is a continuing series centered around the same protagonist. DA isn't.
True it can't be marketed the same way, but there could be room for remaster and slightly improved gameplay if needed.

Agreed. While this might not appeal to some--especially the "DAO is the greatest and all the sequels are terrible" crowd--my own preference would be to redo DAO and DA2 in the same style as DAI. Presumably they could reuse a lot of the DAI assets, e.g. Cullen, Leliana, Morrigan, Varric and Hawke. There's a lot of room for improvement in the environments, particularly in DA2, where it was always the main issue. And I assume they could use the same sound and dialogue files as needed.

<shrug> But sadly it will never happen, I suspect.

Sure. I'm just not sure I see the relevance, since any remaster would pretty much have to use a more recent engine (see my earlier comment).

I mean...it's not like other games haven't done similar things: just look at the remaster of CoD4:MW.

So to me the "we've lost the bubble on the old engine" shtick seems like a contrived answer.

Porting an old game to a new engine would require the devs to be fairly familiar with the previous engine to begin with. Assets would need to be reworked and code would need to be rewritten. Bioware has neither the manpower nor the interest for that, it seems.

Fair enuff. I guess I naively assumed that many such things could be redone using Frostbite/DAI assets, including the fact that many of the antecedent characters appear in DAI. DAO: Leliana, Morrigan, Alistair, Loghain, Cullen, Stroud (DLC). DA2: Hawke (doh), Varric, Cassandra. Probably others I've forgotten.

I'm no computer whiz, let alone a programmer, so please forgive me for channeling the pointy-haired boss [1] here! :steamhappy:

Just realised the 1st game is on Eclipse Engine, the 2nd game is on Lycium engine, and the 3rd is on Frostbite engine. Really odd imho.

Forgive me too for channeling seemingly similar level energy. although I have some limited programming experience so a rewrite is completely challenging.

Guess it was a pipe dream that I wanted the 1st and 2nd game to be ported over to Frostbite.

Just fyi, the Lycium engine is the Eclipse engine, just a newer version of it that they renamed Lycium.
