Agreed. While this might not appeal to some--especially the "DAO is the greatest and all the sequels are terrible" crowd--my own preference would be to redo DAO and DA2 in the same style as DAI. Presumably they could reuse a lot of the DAI assets, e.g. Cullen, Leliana, Morrigan, Varric and Hawke. There's a lot of room for improvement in the environments, particularly in DA2, where it was always the main issue. And I assume they could use the same sound and dialogue files as needed.
<shrug> But sadly it will never happen, I suspect.

Sure. I'm just not sure I see the relevance, since any remaster would pretty much have to use a more recent engine (see my earlier comment).
I mean...it's not like other games haven't done similar things: just look at the remaster of CoD4:MW.
So to me the "we've lost the bubble on the old engine" shtick seems like a contrived answer.
Fair enuff. I guess I naively assumed that many such things could be redone using Frostbite/DAI assets, including the fact that many of the antecedent characters appear in DAI. DAO: Leliana, Morrigan, Alistair, Loghain, Cullen, Stroud (DLC). DA2: Hawke (doh), Varric, Cassandra. Probably others I've forgotten.
I'm no computer whiz, let alone a programmer, so please forgive me for channeling the pointy-haired boss [1] here!
[1] "To the man who doesn't know how to do it, everything seems either simple or impossible."
Forgive me too for channeling seemingly similar level energy. although I have some limited programming experience so a rewrite is completely challenging.
Guess it was a pipe dream that I wanted the 1st and 2nd game to be ported over to Frostbite.
Just fyi, the Lycium engine is the Eclipse engine, just a newer version of it that they renamed Lycium.
