Game not detecting my Controller
I've been playing this game for a while now with an Xbox 360 Controller with a Wireless Receiver and the moment I upgraded to an Xbox One X Controller, I can use the new Controller fine in any game with Bluetooth but for some reason the game does not detect that I have a Controller working. Any Idea how to fix this or what's going on ?

make sure the controller is turned on before you launch the game, or it won't pick it up. Haven't used a xbox X controller as I use a xbox one elite, but you may have to go into steam and set it up.

I always connect the Controllers before going into any Game, I will try to configure it in Steam maybe but that doesn't make sense since the game doesn't even detect a connected Controller to begin with :s

Reason I mentioned steam is because to get my PS4 controller to work in some games, I had to set steam to use it. It was just a quick suggestion, I did however google xbox x not detected and theirs a lot of posts about it. May want to check them out, being that the controller is new and what not.
The only solution that worked for me is to make it a wired controller, unplug my keyboard/mouse after the game launches because if I leave them plugged in they cause the new xbox controller to disconnect. I eventually got annoyed of doing it everytime I want to play this game so I just my steam controller lol

I figured out how to fix it no thanks to anything I found on Google.
I launched the game using Steam Link on my iPad while using the Same Xbox one X Controller on Bluetooth (It was connected to my iPad), and when the game launched It said "Config Loaded - Gamepad", and then It got me thinking. I went to Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Setting > and turn on "Xbox Configuration Support"
After than I just ran the game normally with my Controller Connected to Bluetooth and It Immediately detected it
P.S. Playing Wired worked but Bluetooth wasn't apparently.
Your welcome

Thats did not work for me even though i tried. What I did is watched a old youtube video that said download reWASD now of course this allowed me to use the controller but I could not press anything. I used the mouse to go to settings and "Wala" I could change mouse and keyboard to controller and even without the program I downloaded I can use my ps5 controller :D Cheers

Edit: After I got the controller working i just uninstalled the program cause now the game saved the fact that I have used a controller

Edit 2: Well turns out you cant uninstall w/e controller emulater you download. I suggest using x320ce cause its free, all you would have to do is activated it and the game would pick it up. So far is has been working prefect without me having to remap the buttons. :D

Wish they would just get rid of origin or fix this ♥♥♥♥. Can't enjoy this simple game on my steam deck which is the only reason I bought it.

Go to Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Setting > and turn on "Xbox Configuration Support" and "XBox Extended Configuration Support", then let the drivers install.

Reboot your PC

Go to Steam > Settings > Controller > Desktop Configuration and remap the LS button to do nothing by selecting the (-) sign on top right. (This solves an issue when you press LS in game virtual keyboard opens)

Add the game to steam if you have downloaded it from anywhere else

Plug your controller to cable

Open the game from steam

By using your keyboard, change input type from keyboard/mouse to gamepad, confirm and repeat the process to mouse and to gamepad a couple of times.

Continue your game

Unplug the controller and play.

Hope this works, it worked for me.

Struggled with this today. All these answers are wrong. Go ti in game settings menu, go ti controls, then where it says “prefer keyboard or gamepad” change it to gamepad

This! Thank you so much! This worked for me. Simply enabling Xbox extended and restarting seemed to do it.

Yay. Those drivers make my PC blue screen of death in Forza Horizon 4, so uninstalled them :lunar2019laughingpig:

EA really needs to fix their controller support in games on PC
Same with NFS games

Plug in controller before game launch + select "prefer controller" in the game setting.
