Report a translation problem
So in every case that I can think of, there is some indicator that you're in the right spot - a sandy patch, a piece of paper, some old bottles, something. So be sure you're standing right on those, and not moving (because it doesn't work so well if you keep moving), before hitting the search pulse.
Yes! The problem was actually that I was kind of dumb and didn't realise that there is a button that makes a search pulse (like cruinne said). I don't know how that slipped by me but ... yeah. Once I pressed that button when I was close to the right area the item showed up. I can't remember which one it was since it has been a while since I played this game but I'm sure you can find it in the key settings. Hopfully that will help you :)
