Dalish rogue roleplay
Good morning everyone :D I'm trying to start a new Dragon Age Keep full trilogy run and i'm having a hard time figuring out how to roleplay my character in Inquisition. In my first run i was a mage siding with the chantry and the templars, but after what happens in Trespasser (i mean the final plot twist and what we discovery with the well and all of that stuff) i have to make an Elf that goes all the way against the chantry and so sides with mages and especially with THAT Trespasser character.

But my problem is figuring out how to roleplay the class i want to play. I'm feeling like playing a rogue this time, a sort of Duelist (for the first 2 games, gonna do maybe a tempest in Inquisition). But if i'm going to be Dalish ('cause there's not gonna be city elf of course), i can't envision much his motivations and such. Can it be so simple to go like: "hate the shems for obvious history reason?". Can it be so kind of simple? And how would Dalish consider me being a rogue? Because that would mean thievery and assassination, ad we know their consideration for honor and this kind of "not-so-good-stuff".

And after that what party would i have? Of course not Cassandra (that would mean romance Josephine by the way). I was thinking of Solas as a mage (obviously and he will be immovable from my party), one between Iron Bull and Blackwall for tanking role and one between Varric (gotta love Varric!), Sera (only because she's elf), Cole (for "Solas reasons") and Dorian (only to have a second mage if i need one) for the third spot. Maybe i can rotate them? Even though i don't like too much to rotate party members.

Can you please help me figuring this out?

The easiest foreplay would be female elf that romances Solas. By the way their scene is totally worth it in Tresspaser . But you can just go male without issues, I jus think the former adds some nice extra flavor and makes roleplay better.

For class nobody will care in a negative away if you are a rogue, and neither if you pick assasin spec ( in fact Dorian and Leliana will speak favorably about it ) . Arcance Enchanter mage would be more fitting ( they origin from the Elvish Arcane Warriors) but since you already played mage you might want to try something new . In any case rogue is more than fine. Also bear in mind If you do not play a mage you will need to use Dorian or Vivienne after you complete the main game

As for the party, Solas and Sera are obvious picks and for warrior both Bull and Blackwall could work. Blackwall fits nice with Sera ( she really likes him). Bull is.... well he is freaking bull, and as you already know he is very linked with Tresspaser as well

I think roleplaying a Dalish rogue is quite easy in fact. The roleplay is completely up to you and your character could be whatever you made him (or her) to be. Just add that little extra bit of being "special". No matter what the other characters are, yours can be different in their own way. If you speak with Sera, she's all about not being of the normal kind. So you can be as well. There's a lot of rogues and assassins among elves (take Zevran or Sera as examples), your character also could have choices, that led to that way of life. Isn't roleplay about that?

The woman who teaches the way of the assassin is Dalish, even some of the sentinel's at the temple of mythal are assassins, don't think the Dalish would have a problem with another assassin in their ranks

Yes, I forgot about Heir (the Assassin trainer in Skyhold) and the Mythal sentinels, Zevran is at least half Dalish (on his mother's side), Sera is definitely Dalish and there's others throughout the saga. Roleplaying another Dalish assassin shouldn't ever be a problem, unless you make it one. It's not like it's ever against the lore. Even if there weren't so many examples, you still can roleplay a character, that isn't thypical prototype of a race, or a group. The limit is only your own imagination.
