I also recall that at some point EA/Bioware stopped selling the base edition separately for that exact reason. I actually bought the game TWICE on Origin (and then a third time on Steam) because I'd bought the base edition when it came out and it was cheaper to buy the GOTY edition than to buy the DLCs separately.
Also back then, buying expansions and add-ons to Bioware games was a huge hassle since you weren't able to buy them directly: you had to buy "Bioware points" and then use them to buy what you wanted. Strange system if you ask me but whatever.
But it was a good thought on your part, O Piratical One!
Well maybe they just got around to blipping the original version out of existence and I never noticed.
Anyhow no need to be sorry, I did all that of my own free will, in part to support Bioware and Steam.
I frequently buy games on Steam even if I think my chances of playing them are low for the same reasons.
That's fair. Perhaps I should adjust my advice, rather than telling people what to do, just helping them make an informed decision. If you want to spend more money on the same game, it's your money, and you have every right to. Just make sure you're doing it because you want to, and not because you think you're getting more of the game than you already have.
