I think 2K has a launcher now as well? RIP my Bioshock Infinite replay
The the 2K launcher isn't a drm thing that needs to an online connection like the EA app, it's just a normal launcher. You can skip the 2k launcher by using launch option cmds like this one for Bioshock remastered; "BioShockHD" -run %command%
Oh, thanks.
I dont think you can put steam in the same box as Denuvo, i dont think EA app is in that box too to be fair, its in between though, its more intrusive than steam right?
It worked wonders, i got no achivements though, but i can live without that pat on the back.

Even though I already have an EA account and own games requiring it, which it why I didn't play them in a long aah time and probably won't again any time soon.
truly disgusting, same thing happens with many ubisoft games that require ubi connect drm, account creation and login yet there are many confused people defending big corpo cuz they believe you are attacking the game, they couldn't be more wrong, it's the anti-consumer measures and drm.
I had two choices, Install steam as my only option, or take the game back. I choose to set up the account and play the game i wanted.
In a perfect world, i could choose the store i use, choose the launcher i use and even have a physical copy for any game with no need to ever have to use the internet. To me this isn't about a launcher, Your pro steam for what ever reason and if that was the only option you would be perfectly happy about that. That's not really pro-consumer either.
But if you really want it to change you have options, E-maili the heads of EA with your concerns. Call your local Paper/TV station, Call your local consumer protection, Call your congressman that you are not happy with this. Or maybe Sue EA, for their anti consumer practices, just like the NFL. They just lost a lawsuit over how they sold their Sunday ticket because of how they sold stuff and the price. Sounds great right? Well this year Sunday ticket instead of around 100 dollars a little Plus of minus depending on the year (which the suit said was over priced) is now over 400 if you don't pay monthly for you tube and if you do it's the low price of 350, great thanks lawsuit and youtube for your new fair pricing.
Or do what every other person does when they don't like how a game company does something, play something else. I choose that option quite often.
Good ol' Gaben said about the relation between user experience / convenience and piracy.
Steam is a convenient app, EA's app is not convenient, simple as.
