I did some looking through Reddit and went all through Nexus.
The consensus at least for the earlier games is that the engine would struggle with it, there was a mod that allowed for it in DAO or something but they didn't come up in icons and it broke the fade, plus blocked the doorways etc.
The engine for Inquisition *might*, but obviously it wasn't configured with more than four party members in mind, so it's hard to say, plus you'd want something that allowed for walking through your team mates.
If you've played the Citadel DLC in ME3, there's a similar moment, but initiated by the companions
