No idea if this will help but it can't hurt to give it a shot.
Oh--final thought: as of the last day or two suddenly the EA client wants me to log in every time I fire it up--even though I've set it--as has always been true--to keep me logged in. I even tried updating it--apparently my version of the client was a couple iterations out of date--but it hasn't helped.
EDIT: make sure you're using the latest version of the Frosty app, which is 1.0.6.2.
If you create a new account on your computer [Settings > Accounts > Family and Other Users > Add Someone Else To This PC] the game will launch on that new account. Please don't ask me to explain why this works. I have no idea what's going on.
I struggled for two days to run mods from frosty with frosty mods and dai mods . And finally it worked out
First of all go to eaplatform and disble overlay. And check if the game starts or not, from frosty.
To those who already have frosty 1.6.0.2 and DatapathFix v1.6.0. Maybe you need only disable overlay in eaplatform or/and point 0
Before starting hard way
Check Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch package.mft and look at the version, I had 13.
also check the version in Dragon Age Inquisition\ModData\Default\Update\patch
package.mft
Hard way:
1. Reinstall the game (after uninstalling the game, delete the folder where the game was) (maybe you don’t need to reinstall, but you need to delete the ModData and patch folders for sure)
2. remove the old frosty.
3. in Appdata in local delete frosty.
4. download frosty 1.6.0.2
5. remove the plugin from the folder with plugins LaunchPlatformPlugin.dll
6. download plugin fix DatapathFix v1.6.0
7. put the plugin in the plugins folder
8. start frosty, find a game, frosty will create a cache
9. after creating the cache, frosty will ask you to run the game through origin to create the sdk. Launch Eaplatform, launch the game from it
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
0. from now on, constantly when launching the game or frosty, and also after closing the game, check the folder with the game, it should not contain the DragonAgeInquisition.orig and DragonAgeInquisition.orig.par files. If they appear, close Frosty and eaplatform. then delete DragonAgeInquisition and DragonAgeInquisition.par, rename DragonAgeInquisition.orig and DragonAgeInquisition.orig.par to DragonAgeInquisition and DragonAgeInquisition.par respectively.
Launching eaplatform again
All this is necessary for the game to start at all through frosty
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10. We are waiting inside the game menu to create sdk. After creating, exit the game. click finish
11. in the frosty folder there will now be a TmpProfiles folder, from there we copy DragonAgeSDK.dll. create a "Profiles" folder in the frosty folder, paste DragonAgeSDK.dll there
12. launch frosty, select the game (when choosing, there should always be a game icon and it should not be written DatapathFix if you see it refer to point 0), install and apply mods that are easy to check. Press launch from frosty.
13. the game should start, if an Eaplatform error occurs, we refer to point 0 with exclamation marks.
14. check if the mods work in the game.
15. if there is a problem with saves, see what version you had, exit the game and change version 12 in the package.mft files to the one with which we had saves (change in 2 places)
everything should work.
But if you also need mods through the Dai Manager. That's more difficult.
16. Delete the ModData folder from the game folder
17. Run dai manager, install mods. merge together
18. Delete the Patch folder. rename the Patch_ModManagerMerge folder to Patch. in this folder we edit package.mft, delete the line after the version, change the version to 12.
19. repeat steps 12-15
do not forget about step 0, every time you start the game or close the game
Run 'app recovery' in EA launcher, wait until EA reopens.
Launch game vanilla from steam, wait for it to fully load the opening menu, then close game.
Exit EA, shut down EA background service via task manager, exit steam.
Reopen EA, launch from frosty, wait for EA launcher to open (and notice how steam isn't reopening)
Cancel launch from frosty, relaunch game from frosty, wait for steam to open, then wait for game to start running.
If you think this is an insane burden to mod a single-player RPG, you'd be correct. I hate EA.
I came here at almost 2AM looking for a fix. I spent two hours trying to get a fix and finally gave up. I just wanted my inquisitor to be pretty. Can't agree with this reply enough.
