I ran into this a few times myself, first thing i'd often do is just unplug my headset from the front and jack it into the rear. Or vice-versa, when that failed i'd check to see if windows audio enhancements or any 3rd party software with a similar feature is enabled and then disable it. If that doesn't work, try changing the audio device in windows from the default, launch DAI, exit it, then change it back. Sometimes it could also be resolved by just ALT+Tabbing as well. DAI is really weird with audio, sometimes you can do everything and it just refuses to cooperate. I hope something here helps!

My own experience is that sound drivers are sometimes a bit wonky, and not just in games. Sometimes I lose the sound on my system and when I open up the control panel it's switched from one output device to another without any intervention from me. Might be connected to the system updates Microsoft is perpetually slipstreaming, but I don't really know.

Sound in this game really sucks. I can't get the volume to be high enough to actually hear anything most times. No matter how high I have it, or whatever settings I have, it is barely audible. It's really bad while exploring to be able to hear the companions.:PuzzleBallDONT_KNOW:
