Do you know what the most recent one does, if anything? Thus far I've been putting up with running in Offline mode and thus needing to login every time (grrr) but that's better than having the whole thing go sneakers up, right?
But if you've installed the latest update without problems it would be helpful to have that confirmed.
Thanks friend, much appreciated! :-)
The newest available update on Steam (https://steamdb.info/patchnotes/10351640/) tries to force the EA App installation. You can shut Steam up bychanging "IGNORE_INSTALLED=1" to "IGNORE_INSTALLED=0" in "installScript.vdf" in the DA:I installation folder.
Troubleshooting
If EA Desktop tells you that you do not own the game, restart it through the in-app restart button.
If Steam/EpicGamesStore has the game stuck as "Running" completely kill and restart Steam/EpicGamesStore aswell as all EA related processes.
If the game shows up as "DatapathFix" in Frosty, try to launch the game like normal and it should fix itself.
Make sure to disable the LaunchPlatformPlugin that comes with Frosty.
Now it works again and also for Dragon Age Inquisition.
Every Software has bugs and some online services have problems. My problem is the lack of information EA gave. I could not find anything that EU EA App had problems at all online...
Open file explorer and set view settings to show hidden system files and folders. Now open the C: drive and go into 'Program Data' folder......
Stop origin client loading EA app message;
1. Open C:\ProgramData\Origin\local.xml in notepad
2. Add new key there:
<Setting key="MigrationDisabled" type="1" value="true" />
Put it down at bottom just above the line </Settings>
Then save the file.
Now you can launch Origin Client and that dam Upgrade notice will be gone. Also, set the Origin client to NOT automatically update the client.
So, it should look like (edited syntax so Origin client likes it better)
<Setting value="true" key="MigrationDisabled" type="1"/>
<\Settings>
Also, be sure you turn off 'automatic updates' in the client settings.
And, you'll now need to be deleting some files that get installed with their latest attempts at forcing us to upgrade to the EA client. You'll get little popups about upgrading....close those out / cancel / abort.....do NOT let it try to upgrade to the EA client. Then double check your 'local.xml' file to be sure code line still in there.....it will get higher up in the file due to more code being appended to that file......and;
Delete all instances of this file; 'OriginThinSetupInternal.exe'
YOu may need to be doing this before / after launching the Origin client from now on.... to ensure it doesn't try an update to EA....cuz that will bork the Origin client.
Edit: Ok i found an update on this fix in this video 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE2I_jnCIGU&ab_channel=Stickmanweasle'. Now the prompt doesn't appear and i can use origin but the game still doesn't start. When i launch the game origin kind of refreshes, the DAI name in my steam goes green like i'm in game and then it just goes back to normal without the game ever opening.
