Not getting attribute points
I just started Inquisition. From what I've read, I'm supposed to be getting attribute points automatically signed on level up (so as a mage, I would expect either magic or willpower to go up). But I'm level 3, and still have the same attribute points I started with (all 10 except one 11). Is it supposed to be that way? If not, this is going to seriously handicap me.

Attribute points come when you select a passive skill--one that's in a circle. If you move the cursor over the circle it will tell you how many (I think it's always +3) and of which attribute you get. The attribute points you get are always in one of the two attributes associated with your class, e.g. Magic or Willpower for mages.

Active skills--in the large diamond boxes--don't give you attribute points, nor do their improvements--the small diamond boxes. So if you are level 3 that means you have either 3 or 4 skill points, including the 1-2 you started with. Since I don't believe the game assigns any passives to any build at the start, this means the most increase you could have gotten would be +6 if you picked two passives.

EDIT: It's actually impossible for you to have any passives at the start since all the skill trees start with either one or two actives. I mean, theoretically it could be done, but in practice, the game doesn't assign you anything but first-tier skills.

Since the game doesn't exactly make this obvious, my guess is that--like most people playing their first game--you chose active skills or possibly improvements to your existing actives. I know I did! :-)

Bear in mind that weapons, armor and accessories also give you attribute boosts. For the one that's 11 instead of 10, you may want to check your equipment to figure out which piece of gear is giving you that +1. It's also possible that it's a race-specific bonus, though I don't remember if that's how those work, i think they mostly improve your secondary characteristics like defenses.

Hope this helps.

Its not like the other games in the series with direct raising of attribute points at level up.
You get it from skill bonuses after you select one and the majority will come from armor sets, rune slots and such.
