he didn't own it, its one of many things he's learned about with talking with the spirits of the fade. knowing that moving there would be a monumental task that wouldn't be needed if they could seal the rift.

up until corypheus attacks the base, solus assumed he died in the explosion so never thought a surprise attack by an army would happen

If you talk to Solas between missions you eventually discover that Skyhold was originally built by the elves. So in a sense Solas DOES own it, but not in any formal meaning.

Skyhold, like many places, has been owned and abandoned by many people. In our own history there's plenty of places like that. While property records go back a long ways, not all property was accounted for in the modern sense.

How exactly Skyhold being elven means Solas is make him informal owner? Just because it was elven doesn't mean ownership passed to nearest elf like him just because he was elven.

Tbf, if you overlook the castle from top of the balcony, it's not difficult to guess why so many people abandoned this place. It's in a middle a snowy mountains and no main road to lead you to any nearby trade hub. Skyhold's location is nothing but mountains and snow, it's impossible to imagine having any community living there survive for long without trade or let alone on their own.

Umm...Because of his real identity? :-)

If you don't know what I mean, feel free to replay Trespasser though... ;-)

No, I've played the Trespasser and know the reveal for what good it did. Being a Fenris'Harel doesn't make him heir apparent to Skyhold. From vague information gathered within the game it was once owned by the elves that wished to be close to the sky, thus the name of the keep according to Morrigan then a number of other owners was lost, presumably the very last holders until Inquisition were Fereldan Bann perhaps.

Why did Solas give his ob ball to Corypheus?why did he do what he did to flemmeth?
So could Solas beat Corypheus?

he gave the orb to corypheus because he thought that it would kill him when it was used and the veil would be broken as was planned, but it didn't break, he survived, and the inquisitor ended up with the key to open/close rifts. he teamed up with the inquisitor so he could manipulate/team up with them to prevent his problem from destroying the world.

he absorbed flemmeth/her power because she is/was, or a spirit she merged with long ago, the same as him, an ancient elvish god, and hes consolidating power so no one can stop his future plans of elvish domination
