Which path is more fun gameplay wise according to you?
Its a role playing game choose what you would do.
Do you think mages should be killed and thrown in a tower for life at best because they risk causing bad things or should they be potentially free or thrown in tower for safety. etc...
Overall, the mage path feels like it had a lot more attention placed on it while the templar path was neglected and they didn't have enough time to bring it to par with the mage side.
Ngl but I dont think I understand the story enough to decide yet. I know mage side has a guy that messing with timeline n such. On Templar side the supposedly calm and reasonable guy is acting unreasonable according to Cassandra. Could be something shady, could just be him changing heart.
I know every mage is a potential leak for the Fade to seep through. So I want to siege the Templar and use them to control the mage. But on the other side, there is 1 person messing with something potentially dangerous and it's urgent to slap him.
That's my understanding so far. As for the history of Dragon Age this is my 1st Bioware game so I don't know what to make of the old chars.
Its basically only 1 mission that is completely different , afterwards it just affects what enemies you will mostly fight on main quests.
I advise you to go with what you like RP wise. It will obviously affect the ending .
For what its worth I prefer to go templar, but your nemesis if you pick mages is better.
Oh woah. It changes the enemy type I'll encounter? What is the change and which one is better for you?
Basically the bad guy recruits the faction you dont join with. However you will still fight both maged and templars( red templars as they are called) in various areas in the game, however in the main quests you will fight mostly the faction you didnt recruit as long with their leader.
It doesnt make THAT much of a difference as it sounds to be honest which is why I suggested going with your personal taste. Also one thing I forgot to mention if you pick templars you get to recruit one extra agent for the Inquisition ( military) assuming the character survives the templar quest
But didn't the head of the mages just sold themselves into the servitude of Tevinter, something that is even worse than the Chantry (judging from some NPC reaction)?
Yep they did. The claim was that it was out of desperation. The companion reactions was priceless.
Generally I love the gray area surrounding templars -mages but overall the mages just prove that their judgement is questionable at best. Take the mages at DA 2 for example. -Oh no Meredith is crazy she is treating us all like blood mages - I know the solution , lets actually become blood mages !
I mean even if you side with the mages , you realise most of them have actually became blood mages including Orsino who was covering the serial killer BEFORE Meredith took over Kirkwall.
Ok. One extra agent, and I guess with him a questline as well. It's a deal. Templar time!
No questline actually, but he does have a special cutscene after some war table missions.
I ended up playing on after siding with the Templars, but I think I actually enjoyed the Mage path more.
But why not try both and then decide?
