Can't sprint?
Okay....

I must be missing something.

The keybindings say that "sprint" is the shift key.

I've tried holding it down.
I've tried tapping it.
I've tried remapping "sprint" to something other than shift.

Whether in combat or not, I do not seem to ever sprint.
I seem to have two speeds...run....and walk.

WTF? Do I have to get completely out of some tutorial area to be able to sprint?

you just confused there no sprint in this other then think multiplayer, you suppose to use mount(+ fast travel) if some reason you don't feel like smelling the roses.

There is a mod that you can get I think (just googled) https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/2053/

lovely....I don't wanna mod this puppy just yet, but I'll bear it in mind for the future.

wouldn't worry about modding especially for such a simple thing
(honestly didn't look into it so idk if it has a issue or w/e but expect not other then think it requires 1 other mod utility)

O keep in mind mounts sadly does mean no companion banter (they vanish) though if that a non issue to you then they work well enough.

Pfffft they barely ever banter now. No big loss if I'm riding around but mounts ultimately suck in most games except for maybe granting flight or something. I've usually got my lewtwhore nose to the ground inching along and spamming search anyway.

But in combat, I feel like I'm waddling to the fight.

I mean they got a ton of banter and great ones at that, not to mention a very select few rare ones that allow you to interject if you notice + quick enough (a transparent wheel will pop up).
Though can feel less compared to other games since it open world style and not scripted talk spots.
But to each their own.

Early mounts suck, and most are cosmetic so by you saying all that suggest not bothering with them and guess just enjoy loot spamming, though suggest being careful of doing it to much might make you bored as you really don't need nearly as much that is available and really no need (more so if you plan to play more then 1 playthrough).

glhf.

I came here too looking for what I was doing wrong with sprint. Moving around while fighting is infuriatingly slow. Shame there is no actual sprint. Normal run speed is a jog at best so there is plenty of scope for a sprint speed.
