Does the -10% apply on the already discounted price or not?
and it remains in system tray but the game doesn't start. I opened origin via the system tray and there was an error message saying cloud synch had failed with two options - cancel, and play anyway or something like that. When I clicked cancel origin closed so I tried again but this time I clicked the play anyway button and the game started in steam. I've tried it three or four times since and it worked every time. So I suppose if I fix the cloud synch issue in origin it probably would start normally. Anyway, give it a few minutes then open origin and see if you have an error message. Click the play anyway button and be patient. Maybe this might help some of you.
EDIT- btw origin have had these cloud synch issues for ages.
That sounds like exactly what was happening to me. Let me ask you a couple of questions.
1 - Did you already have an origin copy DAO and was it working.
2 - If you did, are there now two copies of DAO in your origin account.
3 - Have you tried starting the Steam copy of DAO from your origin account both with steam running and without it running.
4 - When you run origin on it's own do you get any error messages.
There is one more thing. I remember when I first bought DAO on origin, I couldn't get it to run and after days of anguish I uninstalled it and re installed it on "C" (my drive with windows on it because I had previously had it on a different drive to my os) When I re installed it on "C" it worked straight away and I had no problems after that.
I have found over the years that some games will only run when on the same drive as my os.
I do recall having issues running DAO, I do not have 2 versions on steam but in my windows listing 2 versions exist however with different icons, assumed it was a DLC thing. I do not receive an error message as it doesn't appear to be tied with steam.
I really hope that isn't the issue as my C drive is a small high performance SSD and is at near capacity with essential programs.
I have a suspicion it may be a driver issue I still haven't managed to pin point as I was able to successfully launch the game in Safemode.
Thanks for the advice, I shall look into those issues
Not steam, do you have two versions on origin and error message on origin when you start the game
Only the one version on DAO and Origin
No steam logo
Then I suspect the game will start in safe mode but not in normal mode because you haven't linked your origin account with your steam account. It asks you to do this during the game start up process and the first time it asks you to log into your origin account. You must do this for it to run and it will only run when oririn and steam are synched and both running. If you didn't get the request to log into origin then I suspect it is appearing but not visible to you. Start DAO via yoyur steam library, wait at least three or four minutes and keep an eye on the task bar and look out for origin (could also be in system tray) if origin starts you need to open it so you can see it (DO NOT HAVE ORIGIN ALREADY OPEN WHEN YOU START THE GAME)
If that doesn't work you need to look into making sure your origin and steam accounts are linked. That's all I can think off.
