If we are talking about the same quest.
I also do not like zones or dungeons/ caves which has a ton of multiple levels one has to navigate thru.
I would have enjoyed it if it did not have the "court approval" crap. With that in the quest, I just wanted to hurry up and get the damn quest done.
Literally 5 minutes in: They made a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ collection quest where I have to collect ALL the stupid hidden horsies or I don't get to complete my goal. It's not going to be wits, decisions, or careful diplomacy. It boils down to how many my little ponies I can find.
2 hours later: ♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ collection quest there's been 2 fights and I obviously just danced with the bad guy who I knew was the assassin the second I walked into the ballroom. I'm definitely not getting 30 secrets because there's no way the reward is worth it, and WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ IT'S JUST 2 MORE HIDDEN ITEM FETCH QUESTS that's it I'm finishing this story and getting out.
You don't need to collect them all, you just need to find the various clues and decide who to support, all the rest is optional; they all have different plans. The Coins can be used in the fountain to gain more time. It's the only quest of this kind.
Saying something is optional doesn't make it a good idea. If it's optional but this tedious, AND a waste of a great concept, I really don't know how anyone could defend it. Like maybe they make what you say matter more than just getting you potentially kicked out of the party. Get you really involved in "The Game" by making it so you can have a slip of the tongue that gets your plans foiled, or if you say something clever it gets you more information. But, no. I have to find horse statues to unlock two particular vaults without knowing which would be the right one for my playthrough before unlocking them. For a person going in blind, they basically have to get all the horses, then quicksave before each vault to make sure they get the outcome they want, because this is a story driven game where we're supposed to be able to make choices. Not just randomly blackmail whoever happens to hide their secrets in the vault that requires less friendship power to open.
Personally I loved the quest per se, but it could have been much better without these elements, using the various dialogues and choices to uncover secrets would have been more immersive. Like I said luckily the other quests are different.
If that's what you want, go play overwatch, or Lego games.
As a side note, if you really were the type to stick to a save. You would have no issues keeping your result of opening the wrong door. In character and out of character oops. Suck it up.
Don't bother responding. I won't.
Its really not that hard. That was on my first playthrough a few years back.
