Origin keeps telling me game not installed.
I downloaded the game to Steam, hit the play button, signed into my Origin account, and I get a error that the game is not installed.

So I did a shutdown of my system and restarted things up. Same error.

I refunded this one. It is a problem child from day one.

Yeah, there have been a few users with that problem apparently.
I refunded it too, not because it did not start but it did run way worse on Steam then the Origin only version.
I started a replay a few days ago on Origin ( by pure coincidence) and thought i could continue on Steam.
But i had tons of strange micro stutters and lag when i tried it on Steam.
Maybe because of the 2 layers of DRM and overlays on each other.
Anyway, not worth the hassle. I just continue to play my Origin copy which i added as a Non Steam game.

My gut feeling is my Steam games are saved on a NAS drive (Z:) but Origin is looking for games on (C:) drive. The two shall never meet...

My problem is similar but of a different nature: even on the lowest settings upon opening the game origin for a split second uses exactly one hundred percent of my GPU's 3D processing power and crashes the game. The game will also not launch without Origin. GPU: NVIDIA RTX2070 8GB RAM

Go into your Origin Library and click the game, then click the little gear icon that shows up next to Play. Point the game itself (not Origin) to the correct file destination....it might give an error but restart the client and it should work then.

There's like the universal install directory for origin in the general Origin settings AND you can specifically point each game itself to it's own install folder via the tab that comes up when you click it in the library.

I have already tried what you recommended and I couldn't find a way to change the specific game to to point to library where it is installed. That is when I gave up and refunded the game. I would have to buy it again, see if I missed something, and if not refund again.

Are you talking about "Move Game"? I cannot remember which, Epic or Origin, but I moved a game once and it created havoc with the client. The Client would crash and I ended up uninstalling the game and reinstalling it.

Actually that is why my Origin games are stuck on my C drive. When I tried to move a game it just created HAVOC with the client and it would crash. All my other games, personal, Steam, Epic, GOG are on my NAS Z drive.

I believe the person might be referring to "Locate Game". I had this exact problem with another EA game and was able to fix it using "Locate Game". Unfortunately, this option seems to have been removed at some point, but only from steam bought games.

If you own any game directly from origin try clicking on the gear icon as before, and you'll see an option to "Locate Game". Now try doing the same thing with an Origin game you bought through Steam; you'll see that the option is missing.

Locate Game is not available on Origin games either. At least with my version and they keep it up to date.

Wonder why Steam will not allow me to leave feedback on this game?

After all selling something you cannot even install without rearranging your computer deserves a negative.

Game is no longer in my library.

for anyone else (except OP) encountering this error
solution : put origin.exe into win 7 compatibility mode with admin rights , restart origin (ignore the compatibility warning) run the game

Most of the problems i see here are because of the Origin launcher. If i recall correctly, Origin has a parameter to point to a game folder. Now i don't see that here but it might not point to the same place between Steam and Origin.

If you go install under STEAM, then go into Origin, click on the add a non-origin game option and point it to the executable where you installed the steam version, then restart Origin, it will play, at least for me. Seems kind of awkward to have to use two front ends for this game.
