It's ridiculous; Steam doesn't force you to use their overlay, origin doesn't force you to use the overlay, so why am I forced to use origin's overlay if I run the game through Steam?
This is frustrating, I think I'm going to get that refund now.
It's not just starting the launcher, it's starting a new launcher, so even if you try to have Origin configured in the background, launching from Steam starts a new process that doesn't let you change settings, and ignores any settings set with the already running launcher.
Even UPlay isn't this overbearing.
