But still, rolling out Games that use old software that is being sunset to the surprise of nobody, is just absolutely dumb.
In Anycase you would have been rolling out the newer version anyways, so you don't have to do double work.
Its not that the game is rolling out with "old software", it has always been on Origin like every other EA game. Its that they pushed/are pushing the new software out too early when it isn't fully released, implemented, and or supported.
Just like with you saying "why is the game still pushing out old software when the old software is being sunset", I'm saying "why is the game pushing out new software when the new software is currently unimplemented AND when the old software HASN'T been phased out yet".
I'm not disagreeing with you btw, I'm just saying, as someone who has been using Origin long before the new EA app was being pushed out, Origin is still the "current" launcher for pretty much every EA game I own that requires Origin. I made the same mistake of installing EA App (which automatically uninstalled Origin for me) too.
They will at least mess it up, get a few very active threads on social media calling for pitchforks and torches and then try to talk their way out of the mess they created.
While its not explicitly telling you to download it immediately, if you open up Origin there is a notification up top that mentions this topic with a "Learn More" linked to it. However, its not exactly eye-catching so its pretty easy to see it and think it's something unimportant and dismissable. Plus the key thing is, you have to open Origin up. If you have it on Windows startup and its minimized which is probably the case for most people, you won't see it unless you actively open the app up for whatever reason that may be.
As for EA app itself, clicking on "Learn More" takes you to EA's webpage talking about the new app. The issue is, they specifically say "Today, we’re thrilled to announce that the EA app has officially left its open beta phase and will soon replace Origin as our primary PC platform". Yes I am aware that it says "will soon replace" which technically implies its not fully in service yet, the issue is that upon installing the app, it automatically uninstalls and replaces Origin, despite Steam versions of the games (not sure about Origin only games) still requiring you to use Origin. Now, you might think they can't coexist since it auto-uninstalls Origin. Well that's not true either. I have EA app installed, and I was able to reinstall Origin after it uninstalled it. You can clearly have both installed, the only thing you can't do, is have both running at the same time, you either have EA App, or Origin and it will prompt you to log out of one to use the other.
Plus, most of us here are probably launching through Steam. Unless someone has tested, I can't say the EA App isn't working, because I don't have any of my Origin library installed to test. For all we know, EA App works, and if you have the Origin version of a game installed, you can use EA App just fine. My Steam copies do not show up on EA App, but my Origin copies do, so for all I know, EA players might be utilizing the app just fine and its an issue with Steam copies of EA games.
This issue does not exist in the EA client. BUT you have to download the game back into the same folder, so if you don't have the 100GB free that the game needs, then ♥♥♥. You have to remove something to get the game in EA to show up.
But everyone should be surprised if an older game will no longer run on the OS it was designed and bought for, because the developer went out of its way to make sure the launcher no longer runs on the OS---like Ubisoft did.
(I won't be responding to fools, by the way. They don't have to DO anything, they don't have to support anything---All they had to do was NOT deliberately prevent the launcher from running on the OS that the games were released for. Just like a beta launcher isn't guaranteed to have support, the older versions wouldn't have support---they would just NOT be deliberately broken.)
