No, actually FH5 is my first game in the series. Now, I have to ask what's wrong with you?!
Honestly there's no reason to buy more expensive cars other than to look cool. Many of them are pretty bad, though the Regera, Ford GT and Huayra are decent. A lot of meta cars are cheap.
The BMW KS i8 is a very decent starter car, has AWD for stability and can swap to a better hybrid engine for a fast 0-100. Pretty good car for farming Ultimate parts in the endgame.
Need for Speed thankfully still values your journey, so awards aren't handed over to you as if the player was a toddler. The cops are ruthless and you will get busted early into the game, so you need to play your cards right and know when it is time to call it quits when risking it all at night.
Basically, NFS Heat brings back the excitement from engaging in cop pursuits, the risk is what makes it fun and engaging. If you think this is unfair and not fun and that it should change to fit your standards then I suggest you look into other games.
Buy what you like honestly, but if you're curious you can look at Orchan's spreadsheet[docs.google.com] for leaderboards. Just avoid D tier and below. I tried cars in that range like the BMW Z4 and the Acura NSX '17 and escaping from cops is so much harder with them. C and above is generally fine.
Thanks. I look into that.
You're not supposed to race supercars as a new player. That's called progression. You level up as you go and progress to more expensive cars. Just upgrade your current vehicles.
There were three cars in my garage at the beginning of the game which one of them was BMW i8. The other two are Chevorlet K.S and Mercedes K.S 18.
You bought this on sale right?
There should be a Lancer in your garage that the game gives you. I switched to that, tuned it with the money I had, and never struggled to win any race (on hard btw) until I got my Lotus. Then it was really over.
Also I have a lot of my cars tuned to Racing (Away from drifting.)
