What I've tried:
1) Press play in Steam, Origin is launched, but nothing happens. Steam say's the game is running. After about a minute, Steam returns back to the state where it offers me to press Play again. I checked the Task Manager, and I don't find any Need For Speed processes even attempt to start. I can only see Origin related processes start.
2) I've tried running Origin directly, and running the game from Origin. But that just tries to start the game through Steam anyway and the same thing happens above.
3) I've tried restarting Steam. Doesn't solve the problem.
4) I've tried validating the Steam files. Nothing was found missing/corrupted. OriginThinSetup was then automatically reinstalled by Steam.
Has anyone been able to fix this?
It just launches the game from Steam, and does absolutely nothing.
So I've tried a lot of things.
1) Uninstalled NFS Heat, and Re-installed. Still didn't launch.
2) Uninstalled Origin, and Re-installed. Still didn't launch.
3) Disabled Anti-virus. Still didn't launch.
4) Followed EA's instructions here:
https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
5) Performed a "Hard" uninstall:
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/
6) Disabled all network connections that were not needed.
7) Uninstalled some unnecessary apps running in Windows Services.
Now, the game appears to start! (Whoop! Whoop!),
but now I get a black screen, and nothing... it just stays like that until I force close it. LOL!
To get past the black screen, I downloaded Origin:
https://www.origin.com/zaf/en-us/store/download
and installed it from there.
Once in Origin, click on "Origin" --> Application Settings --> Origin In-Game:
Disable "Enable Origin In-Game"
Then start NFS Heat from Steam
- this doesn't work for me. When I start NFS heat from steam it automatically launches origin. And I don't even get black screen. I get nothing. Origin just restarts.
Yeah, I also didn't get a black screen, but check my previous post on how I got that sorted out. Hopefully that works for you. Or maybe it just randomly fixed itself. :/
this worked for me - thank you.
i had to launch origin seperately too - it would not let me change the origin-in-game settings from the steam-launched-origin program...
THX - This time it worked. Yesterday I've tried and it didn't lauch. Today I have reinstalled game and origin and now this solution works. Got fine HW but it took about 10-15seconds to run the window with game.
As I notice black screen problem here is probably some problem with starting the game only in window. Maybe someone who knows how to, can write here a RUN COMMAND for Steam which can be added in game Properties to run always in windowed mode and minimized, maybe it will help.
