I'll write it again:
Wonderful/Wicked Whims is free

Free yes, but at least some of the content locked behind paywall was originally included on The Sims and The Sims 2 which are both not available on Steam.

In all honesty I do hope this EP is good, because there's been a few pretty bad ones in recent years, and I'm sure you could agree with some of them. I definitely didn't expect them to make this EP, and I'm not sure if it's one may people in TS4 community would look at and be like "oh, yeah this is cool" but then again, most stuff gets somewhat negative feedback from the community. I don't think I've bought an expansion pack since.. well maybe cottage living? no packs at all after that. I never really got the grasp of any of them (maybe besides the horse ranch EP). I think some stuff they add in is a bit silly, quirky is another word (as you mentioned the dances and the roleplay costumes lol).

I really hope they can improve the game, I love TS4 and I have 3500 hours on EA (don't play it on steam because it wont let me link my accounts together which annoys tf out of me). There's a LOT of aspects of this game I love, and there's some from TS3 that I adore, which I have been playing a lot over the past few months as I bought it. I think if they really brought out some good packs I'd purchase them, but I feel like in some ways maybe they are running out on ideas because they've brought out the best packs early into the game's life - maybe you agree maybe you don't!

I like that, at least in this pack, it has 13 lots. I remember that the rent EP had like so few playable lots lol and it made some people upset. As long as the EP is good that's all that matters really :mpgb_sge_airi:

Yeah, I have a lot of TS2 nostalgia for some parts and am hoping they do it right. It is going to be so disappointing if they mess this up. Just, really need this to not be Wedding 2.0 (I think when they tried to show parts of the pack on a livestream it literally wasn't working. Which is not a good look).
There will always be negative feedback, even if the pack was released with 0 bugs. Not everyone is interested in the same things. The best reviews, or perhaps most accurate, are going to be from people who are initially excited. Much like I wouldn't read up on someone's review of the Werewolf pack if they hate occults (some people can and will look at things objectively, but plenty do not).

There have been plenty of packs that are... not great. I do think the oldest are the worst (for EP's), in part because newer ones have much more content in comparison.
For some packs it also depends on a person's play style. Some people literally do not play with families. They have YA's and that's it. So they're not going to care about Growing Together or High School Years. Some people don't care for the farming/ranch themed packs because it's just not what they're interested in.
Snowy Escape can seem like a very niche pack at first glance, but there's so much more there than just snowboarding and skiing. I personally wanted that pack solely for the Japanese aesthetic when it first came out, lol
My first impressions with a lot of packs were very poor. It was only once I decided to try and recreate my characters from another project that I actually started to break down the packs and really see what they have to offer. And now I want everything... (except for CAS kits because custom content is basically always better. Also, some builders have made such amazingly gorgeous lots, but they also use a ton of packs.)

So yeah, I am sure that for a lot of people looking at this EP initially it's going to be a lot of "but we have WW" or whatever sort of mod, and thinking it's a total waste of money. I'm not even sure everyone has read the blog post, and the trailer doesn't really... show case game play. Honestly, the trailer was probably more exciting to builders than the average player.
Most people are not going to care that Monica's house had a house number, but so many of the builders were freaking out in their reaction videos. The newer kids playing this game are not going to care about the heart bed (or the lips sofa). Even I personally don't care since I think it looks tacky, but that bed is also part of my childhood since it's from TS1. It looked like we might be getting a round bar and a round pool tool, which again, builders will love but other people... probably didn't even notice.
I'm hoping once some of the big simmers get their early access and share footage, people will actually get to see what this game has, and hopefully it matches and outdoes what we've seen on paper.

Doesn't help console players though =/
Sometimes I really think that porting the game to other mediums was a terrible idea. PC is honestly the best experience and I feel for others (and no, I don't even include Mac's, since they suffered in TS2 days).

seems cool! tho, the looks of this pack, this feels more like a Game pack than a expansion pack... expanding romance options is nice, but marking it at $40 for it when it couldve been like $20 like the wedding pack wouldve been alot better

idk what alls gonna be in it but judging by whats shown.... its not gonna be worth the price...

half of your dlcs should be in the base game, add some actual stuff to the base game before releasing more dlcs. This game is almost unplayable without dlcs - 95% of the whole game is behind a paywall.
this is actually so real. the entire game on its own is so boring that they had to make it free.. only for packs like this to still be $40.. like all of this stuff could easily just be modded into the game.

Eh, I like that it looks like we're getting even more lingerie and romantic outfit options, but I might pass on this one. I have way too much casual romance going on and don't have the patience for a sim compatibility system getting in the way, lol. Besides, certain mods already have all that.

If you think this dlc is gross then you probably should not play The SIms 4. A large part of The SIms 4 in fact is about romance/family gameplay. Not just with Lovestruck and Growing Together, but with basegame and other dlc as well.

It costs EA money to add stuff regardless of whether it is added from a basegame update or locked behind dlc. Not just any dlc should be free/basegame.

When the developers want you to pay full price for a basic update that should have been in the base game for years...

Nailed it. I am waiting for reviews from actual simmers before playing this.... let alone buying it...
